Graduates of the Post-Master’s Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine are prepared for expanded career opportunities in aesthetic medicine, including practice in medical spas, dermatology and plastic surgery settings, and independent private aesthetic practice.
Eligibility for admission requires completion of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) track within a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program.
Applicants must report all post-secondary institutions attended in the “Colleges Attended” section of the application under “Academic History,” including institutions where no degree was awarded.
Applicants are required to have completed at least three (3) graduate-level credit hours in each of the following foundational areas:
Completion of these courses is essential to ensure adequate preparation for advanced clinical training in aesthetic medicine.
Applicants are required to possess a current, unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license to practice in the state of Florida. Applicants must either hold an active Florida license at the time of application or demonstrate eligibility to obtain licensure prior to program orientation.
Documentation of licensure must be submitted in the “Documents” section under “License.”
Applicants must submit a personal statement outlining their motivation for pursuing the Post-Master’s Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine at the University of Miami, as well as how the program supports their personal, educational, and professional development goals. The statement should demonstrate the applicant’s interest in aesthetic medicine, readiness for advanced clinical training, and long-term career intentions.
Applicants must provide a current curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé detailing professional employment history, volunteer service, licensure and certifications, honors and awards, professional affiliations, and academic experiences relevant to advanced clinical practice.
The CV or résumé must be uploaded in the “Documents” section under “CV/Resume.”
Admission is contingent upon fulfillment of all conditions specified in the official Certificate of Admission. Applicants must maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), ideally issued by the American Heart Association.
Applications for the Post-Master’s Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine are reviewed on a rolling basis. Completed applications are evaluated as they are received, and admission decisions are issued by the admissions committee on an ongoing basis.
Due to the comprehensive nature of the review process, applicants should anticipate a processing period prior to receiving a decision. Although decisions are not immediate, all applicants will be notified of their admission status. Applicants who submit all required materials by the established deadline will be given full consideration for admission to the program.
As part of the admissions process, selected applicants may be invited to participate in an interview at the discretion of the admissions committee. Interviews may be conducted in person or through virtual modalities, including telephone or video conferencing. Any expenses associated with in-person interviews are the responsibility of the applicant.
Applicants admitted to the Post-Master’s Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine must submit a $1,500 non-refundable enrollment deposit within two weeks of the date indicated in the admission letter. The deposit will be credited toward the student’s tuition for the program.
This certificate program is offered through the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies.
All graduate nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
